Dear Morocco...
November 01 2017 – Kate Sutton
Dear Morocco,
I have loved you from afar ever since I was a girl and saw Lawrence of Arabia one Saturday afternoon on free to air tv, while eating a packet of Tim Tams with my mum and Grandmother Gloria.
I have thought of you many times over the years.,. your colours, your beauty, your people. I have long wanted to visit you and hold you in my arms.
After performing a few stealth like ninja warrior moves over the past four months and squirrelling away the money for my trip, I'm set to land on your exotic shores later this week.
I have spent weeks cooking spag bol and filling the freezer with kid friendly meals and doing my household penance and penance with the divine Mr Uber to stop the guilt I feel for leaving my three favourite people to fend for themselves for two weeks.
This is my inspiration trip... a trip to a foreign land to meet and be among others working with their hands to create and leave behind a legacy.. Working with your hands and making things is a deep part of who I am and I can't wait to meet other silversmiths, weavers, craftspeople, and desert dwellers.
To think I will soon be wandering in Souks, sleeping in Medina's and sharing smiles with new faces fuels my soul... From Casablanca, to Rabat, and The blue town of Chefchaouen and onto Marrakech... To travel is to grow, and I can't wait to see you Morocco.
Your long time devotee,
Kate x
